Judy Shigenaga is our lab manager currently heading the effort to create the core lab for KHRC urine biomarker discovery venture. She is establishing procedures for biomarker measurements utilizing the MSD multiplex platform and the Siemens clinical analyzer BNII.

Judy was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the US with her family at the age of 12. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles and obtained her degree in Biochemistry. After a short stint at UCLA as a lab assistant, Judy relocated to San Francisco and has worked in Dr. Carl Grunfeld’s lab for more than thirty years studying the regulation of lipid metabolism during the acute phase response in models of infection and inflammation. Judy has co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
