Dr. Meyeon Park was one of two awardees selected for the 2013 UCSF Department of Medicine Pilot Funding for Centers of Excellence and Patient Research Award.

Dr. Vasantha Jotwani was awarded a F32 award from the NIH Center for Scientific Review. Her project is entitled, Novel Biomarkers of Kidney Injury in HIV-Infected Men. This is a two year project that will compare levels of each biomarker between HIV-infected and uninfected men; identify the specific risk factors associated with each biomarker among the HIV-infected participants; determine the impact of tenofovir use on kidney health based on biomarker levels; and evaluate longitudinal associations of each urine biomarker with kidney function decline over 4 years.
