Dr Harini Sarathy is a Clinical Fellow in the Division of Nephrology at UCSF. She attended medical school at Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India and then completed her Master of Health Science (MHS) in Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior to coming to UCSF, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr Sarathy is keen on studying ways to improve blood pressure measurements in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). She is particularly interested in studying the role of arterial stiffness in chronic and end-stage renal disease and it’s impact on renal, neurological and cardiac outcomes.
Dr Sarathy was recently awarded the Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship grant by the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) to fund her research (with Dr Carmen Peralta) on using a novel way of measuring blood pressure in CKD patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
