Krista Navarra, MPH

Krista the is Research Associate of the KHRC. Krista was born and raised in Southern California and obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Riverside. In 2015, she moved to the Bay area to pursue her Masters in Public Health at the University of San Francisco. While in graduate school, Krista has worked at UCSF and found a passion in research and serving the underserved communities. Her interests then grew to preventative care specifically in kidney health.

She is currently working with Dr. Shlipak on a study called the, "Self-Management of Blood Pressue for Hypertensive Veterans (SMART)" that involves home blood pressure monitoring and management plans. In some research studies, people with high blood pressure were able to adjust their own medications at home based on home blood pressure readings to get a good control of their blood pressure. We want to see if this self-management plan works here at the VA.
