Julio Lamprea-Montealegre joins the UCSF Health Division of Cardiology faculty beginning January 1, 2022. Dr. Lamprea-Montealegre has been working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCSF and the San Francisco VAMC in the Division of Cardiology and the Kidney Health Research Collaborative since 2019. He earned his medical degree from Javeriana University School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia, and his PhD in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins. He completed his training in cardiology at the University of Washington in Seattle. As a Clinical Instructor, he will be on inpatient duty on the General Cardiology Service, and he will also be seeing patients in the clinic. Dr. Lamprea-Montealegre's will continue his research work focusing on the cardiovascular consequences of chronic kidney disease and in the implementation of programs to improve cardio-renal health.
