Julio Lamprea Montealegre, MD, MPH, PhD

Julio Lamprea Montealegre is a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Cardiology at UCSF and a postdoctoral research fellow at the KHRC. His research focuses on the cardiovascular consequences of chronic kidney disease.  At the KHRC, Dr. Lamprea Montealegre is designing and implementing strategies to improve cardiovascular preventive care among patients with chronic kidney disease. He holds an MD from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, as well as an MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics and a PhD in cardiovascular epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Lamprea-Montealegre completed clinical training in internal medicine at the University of Maryland and cardiology fellowship at the University of Washington. He is a recipient of the American Heart Association’s Post Doctoral Research Fellowship Award (2018-2020).
