Erica Day, MPH

Erica is the Operations and Finance Director of the Kidney Health Research Collaborative (KHRC), where she oversees the operational and financial management of a large portfolio of federally and industry funded clinical research. She has more than 15 years of experience in research administration and program management, including extensive experience managing complex NIH-funded grants and multi-site studies. Her portfolio includes approximately $12 million in research funding across multiple grants, investigators, and participating sites.

Erica earned her undergraduate degree in Health Studies-Science from Georgetown University and her Master of Public Health from the University of Maryland School of Public Health. While completing her MPH she worked at The Children’s Inn at NIH, a residential "place-like home" for children and families participating in clinical research studies at the National Institutes of Health. That experience sparked her lasting interest in innovative medical research and in building the operational structures that allow ambitious scientific projects and programs to succeed.

Originally from the Baltimore, Maryland, area, Erica later moved to San Francisco to join Dr. Shlipak's research program as a research coordinator. Over the last 15+ years her role has grown alongside the KHRC's research portfolio growth, from coordinating individual studies to leading the operations and financial management of a large and increasingly complex research portfolio.
