Teresa Chen, MD, MHS

Teresa K. Chen, MD, MHS is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology at the University of California, San Francisco, and Staff Physician at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, Nephrology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a Master of Health Science (MHS) in Clinical Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. After staying on as faculty for 10 years at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Chen recently made the cross-country move to join UCSF and the KHRC team. Her current research aims to better understand the role of inflammation in chronic kidney disease progression, particularly in the context of APOL1 risk variants. As a clinical nephrologist, Dr. Chen also enjoys taking care of patients with kidney disease.
